Bank Failure No. 4 for 2016: Woodbury Banking Company
Georgia regulators closed Woodbury Banking Company, a small bank in Woodbury, Georgia. The one-branch, $21 million bank will reopen as a branch of United Bank. Cost to the insurance fund will be about $5 million. It's the fourth bank failure of the year. The trend of fewer bank failures each year continues since reaching its peak in 2010, when 157 banks failed. [8/22/16]
