Why This CU Is the Subject of a Potential Class Action Lawsuit for Overdraft Fees
The complaint is that when a transaction is authorized on a debit card, the credit union immediately reduces the consumers' checking account for the amount of the purchase, in effect sequestering those funds. But if the consumer's account later goes to a negative balance on other charges, the credit union has been charging overdraft fees on even the transactions with the sequestered funds. [6/10/19]
