What the CFPB Data Accountability Act Would Do
Right now, before the CFPB can post a consumer complaint about a bank, it has to verify that the complainer has a business relationship with that bank. Under a bill recently introduced in the House, it would not only have to certify the accuracy of the complaint, it would also be required to provide context for the complaint by showing the total number of consumers who use that product.
