What Happens to Your SARs?
In a speech at NYU Law, FinCEN's director gave a brief overview of what happens to Suspicious Activity Reports once they are submitted. It goes a bit like this: 1) on a daily basis, they run the submitted SARs through automated business rules to identify which SARs to escalate, which usually results in about 50 hits a day; 2) the highest priority findings are submitted to law enforcement in what is called a "Flash Report."
