
The Troubling Aspect of OCC’s Small-Dollar Statement
While encouraging banks to engage in small-dollar, short-term lending, the OCC also says it would view unfavorably an entity that partners with a bank with the sole goal of evading a lower interest rate established under the law of the entities licensing state(s). The OCC’s unfavorable view of bank-nonbank partnerships could be seen as questioning a valuable distribution channel for bank loans. [5/25/18]
