Lax Restitution to Servicemembers Lands Auto Lender in Hot Water
In 2015, the CFPB ordered a company that specializes in auto loans for servicemembers to pay redress and a civil penalty for illegal debt collection practices, including threatening to contact servicemembers commanding officers. Now the CFPB is fining the lender an additional $1.25 million for failure to refund more than $1 million to more than 1,000 consumers. [4/27/17]
