JPMorgan’s Discrimination Settlement Settles at $53 Million
From 2006 to 2009, wholesale brokers were responsible for approximately 360,000 mortgages. Of those, 40,000 were made to African-American borrowers and 66,000 were made to Hispanic borrowers. Of those 106,000 loans, an estimated 50,000 African-American and Hispanic borrowers paid higher rates and fees than similarly situated white borrowers, according to the Department of Justice. JPMorgan has settled for $53 million. [1/24/17]
