House Bill Would Remove Independent Agencies from Executive Order Exclusion
Trump's Executive Order 12866 requires government agencies to submit proposed and final regulations constituting a “significant regulatory action” to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) within the Office of Management and Budget for review prior to publication in the Federal Register. The order had excluded independent regulatory agencies, such as the CFPB, FDIC, Fed Reserve and the OCC. A recently passed House bill would remove that exclusion. [3/10/17]
