The FFIEC currently has a geocoding tool designed to help institutions meet the legal requirement to report information on loans. However, beginning 2018, credit unions that report HMDA data will have to do so through the CFPB instead of the FFIEC. So the CFPB developed its own geocoding tool to aid in the process.
