FTC Curbs Mortgage Relief Scam
Operators of a California-based mortgage relief scam have been charged by the FTC for scamming millions of dollars from homeowners. The operators told homeowners about a so-called “mass joinder” lawsuit which would protect them from foreclosure, as well as provide other financial awards. A federal court has temporarily halted the scheme, and the FTC is seeking a permanent end to the alleged illegal practices. [6/17/16]
