FinCEN warns financial institutions to be on the lookout for many types of frauds that tend to follow large-scale disasters. Included in the warning are specific patterns to be on the lookout for, such as deposits of multiple FEMA, Red Cross, or other emergency assistance checks or EFTs into the same bank account, especially when the amounts of the checks are the same or about the same.
