An unexpected candidate for the top spot at the CFPB has emerged: Kathy Kraninger, an associate director at the Office of Management and Budget, would succeed her boss there, Mick Mulvaney. Mulvaney says he expects to remain as acting director at the bureau while Kraninger goes through the approval process, which could take until the end of the year. [6/18/18]
