CFPB Keeping Busy, Targets Citi
Far from laying low, the CFPB is going full-steam ahead. It has hit CitiFinancial Servicing and CitiMortgage with $28.8 million in fines and restitution for how they handled borrower foreclosures. Specifically, they did not treat a deferment as a request for foreclosure relief options, as required by CFPB mortgage servicing rules, RESPA, FCRA, and Dodd-Frank's prohibition against deceptive acts or practices.
