CFPB Hits Student Loan and Mortgage Servicers for “Slipshod” Practices
In the latest edition of its quarterly Supervisory Highlights, the CFPB recaps its efforts to go after student loan servicers who routinely act on flawed information and fail to reverse charges wrongly imposed on borrowers in school. The bureau also shined a spotlight on "slipshod" practices of mortgage servicers, such as keeping borrowers in the dark on foreclosure alternatives and prematurely launching the foreclosure process. Fair lending is another area featured in the report. [4/27/17]
