CFPB Goes After Bank for Handling of Credit Card Disputes
The CFPB is going after Citizens Bank in Rhode Island for Truth In Lending Act (as amended by the Fair Credit Billing Act and the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act) violations, claiming the bank automatically denied consumers' billing error notices and claims of unauthorized use in certain circumstances, failed to fully refund finance charges and fees when consumers' fraud claims were justified, and failed to adequately respond to disputes.
