Agencies Seeking Input on Small Business Call Report Data
In response to criticisms from the GAO, the agencies are taking comments on how to better address the amounts reported by community banks to more accurately capture lending to small businesses. The problem stems from the definition of small business loans that excludes loans greater than $1 million; the thresholds have not been adjusted for inflation since 1992, and the reported amounts are based on loan size rather than the size of the borrowing entity.
